SharpResearch· example answer

Mabo and Others v Queensland (No 2) HCA[1992] HCA 23 is a native title decision of the High Court of Australia. The Court, by a majority of 6:1 with Dawson J dissenting, held that the common law of Australia recognises a form of native title reflecting the entitlement of indigenous inhabitants to their traditional lands.

The decision triggered the enactment of the Native Title Act 1993 (Cth).

Built for Australian practice

Four tools, working together. The way you actually research.

Sharp

An AI research assistant grounded in available authority records. Three modes: Quick, Research, IRAC. Answers cite authorities you can click through to read when records are available.

Search

Search by citation, party name, legal issue, or rare phrase across Australian authority records. Filter by court, jurisdiction, year, and area. Find the authority you half remember in seconds.

Reader

Read source text when available, or a clearly labelled CaseSharp summary when full text is unavailable. Keep citations, context, notes, and saved passages together in packets.

Workbench

Notes, packets, briefs, citation lists, projects, alerts. Built for a study session and a billable matter alike, with sharing controls per surface.

Citation honesty

Three steps. Unsupported authorities flagged.

Step 1

Indexed paragraph by paragraph

CaseSharp indexes Australian authorities as authority records and labels curated summaries when full text is not available. Not open-web guessing, not hidden provenance.

Step 2

Retrieved before answered

Sharp retrieves relevant records before answering. You can inspect the authorities it used and check unsupported material before relying on it.

Step 3

Citations link back

Citations link back to available authority records. Click them, read them, verify them. If Sharp cannot find support, it says so.

Why Sharp is trustworthy

Sharp is built to say when support is missing, not pretend every authority is available.
